In 1975, Bobo Davenport got fired from his job as the head basketball coach at Grayson County High School in Kentucky. In his twenty-five years as a coach, Bobo had never coached a team to the Kentucky state tournament. Shortly after his firing, he found a new job at Edmonson County High School, an underachieving team that had likewise never made its way into the state tournament.
